How ticket dismissal works

Texas lets you keep an eligible traffic violation off your record by completing an approved defensive driving course. Here's the path, start to finish.

  1. 1

    Get your court's permission first

Before you take the class, contact the court that handled your citation and confirm you're approved to take a defensive driving course for dismissal. This step is required.

  2. 2

    Come to class on Saturday

Walk in any Saturday, 8:00 AM – 2:00 PM. No registration needed. Know the name of your court and bring your driver's license, a pen, and the $35 fee.

  3. 3

    Finish and submit your certificate

Complete the full six-hour course and you'll leave with your certificate of completion the same day. Submit it to your court by their deadline.

Always confirm with your court first.

Eligibility, deadlines, and paperwork vary by court. DriveRite can’t grant dismissal — only your court can — so get their permission before class day. We’re not attorneys and can’t give legal advice about your specific case.
