Lower your car insurance with one Saturday class
$306-hour course
Many Texas insurers knock money off your premium when you complete an approved defensive driving course. DriveRite's class qualifies — and taken for the discount, it needs no court permission at all.

Same TDLR-approved six-hour class as ticket dismissal, but simpler — you're not dealing with a court, just your insurer.
- No court permission required — it's the simplest reason to take the class
- TDLR-approved 6-hour course (CP #315)
- Same-day certificate to give your insurer
- Every Saturday — walk in, no registration
Check with your insurer first.
Every insurance company sets its own discount and decides which certificate it accepts. A quick call to your agent before class confirms you’ll get credit for completing the course.
Insurance-discount FAQs
How much is the insurance-discount course?
DriveRite charges $30 when you take the class only for an insurance discount. Pay by cash, check, or money order.
Do I need court permission for the insurance discount?
No. If you're taking the course only to qualify for an insurance discount — not to dismiss a ticket — you do not need permission from any court. Just come to class.
How big is the discount, and how long does it last?
Discount amounts and length vary by insurance company — many Texas insurers offer a reduction for a few years. Check with your own insurer for their exact discount and what certificate they need.
What do I bring?
Your valid driver's license, a ballpoint pen, and the course fee. You'll leave with a certificate of completion to send to your insurance company.
Need to dismiss a ticket instead? See ticket dismissal ($35, court permission required).
